Charge a no-show fee
How an owner or manager charges the saved card of a guest who did not show or cancelled late. It is always a manual step.
Owner and managerNothing charges by itself. Owners and managers charge the saved card from the book. Hosts do not see the button.
Charge the card
- Go to Book and open the day of the booking.
- Make sure the booking is marked "No-show", or Cancelled inside the late-cancel window. The card chip should read "Card on file".
- Choose "Charge card" on the booking row. A "Charge card" window opens.
- Check the amount. It starts as the no-show fee times the party size, and you can edit it, up to twice that default.
- Choose the Charge button, which shows the amount. The chip changes to Charged.
When the button is missing
- The booking is not marked No-show or Cancelled.
- The booking has no saved card. Deposit bookings and bookings made by staff do not.
- Stripe is not Active. See "Connect Stripe".
- You are signed in as a host.
When the charge fails
The chip shows "Charge failed" and a reason: the card was declined, the bank needs the guest to authenticate, or there is no saved card. Ask the guest for another way to pay. The app cannot take a different card for you.
