Booking rules and party sizes
Cap how many covers can arrive in a time slot and the biggest party that can book online. Staff can always override in person.
Owner and managerThese rules apply to bookings guests make online. They are in Settings, Booking policy, in the "Booking policy" card.
The two rules
- "Max covers per slot": the most guests that can arrive in one time slot. Leave it blank for no cap. The most you can enter is 500.
- "Maximum party size": the largest party that can book online. Leave it blank for no limit. The most you can enter is 1000. A bigger party is asked to contact you directly, and the booking page shows your venue phone number.
- Go to Settings, then Booking policy.
- Fill in "Max covers per slot" and "Maximum party size" as needed.
- Choose "Save changes".
What staff can do
Staff are not blocked outright. If a booking made from the book hits a limit (a full slot, a clash on a table, a table too small for the party), the form warns you. Choose "Override & book anyway" and give a reason. The override is recorded. Guests booking online never see an override option.
Tip: A shift can have its own max covers per slot and max concurrent covers, which win over the venue setting. See "Service hours and shifts". If you have no tables set up, bookings are paced by covers per slot, so this rule matters even more.
Common problems
- Guests say a time is not offered: the slot may have reached the Max covers per slot, or a table-aware conflict applies. Check the book for that day.
- A large party cannot book online: raise Maximum party size, or take the booking by phone from New booking.
