Service hours and shifts
Set the hours guests can book, and optionally split the day into shifts such as lunch and dinner, each with its own rules.
Owner and managerGuests can only book inside the hours you set. You can keep it simple with one booking window for the whole venue, or add shifts (the app calls them service periods) for lunch, dinner or a weekend brunch. Both live in Settings, Service hours & turn times. Only owners and managers can open Settings.
Set your booking window
- Go to Settings, then Service hours & turn times.
- In the "Service hours" card, set "Booking window": the Opens at and Closes at times. Closing time must be after opening time. A window that runs past midnight is not supported.
- Set "Booking interval", which is the gap between bookable times on the book: 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
- Set "Min lead time", which is how far ahead guests must book. The default is 60 minutes. Enter 0 to allow same-day bookings right up to the time.
- Choose "Save changes" in the bar that appears at the bottom.
Add shifts (service periods)
Once you add any shift, the diner booking page only takes bookings inside your shifts. Times outside every shift are closed. Add shifts in the "Service periods" card on the same page.
- In the "Service periods" card, choose "Add shift".
- Give it a "Shift name", for example Lunch. The name can be up to 40 characters.
- Choose its section scope: "Whole restaurant", or a single section.
- Tick the days it runs (Su to Sa). At least one day is needed.
- Set the "Service hours". The start must be before the end, and it cannot run past midnight.
- Choose a "Booking mode": "Continuous" (any time on the booking interval inside the hours) or "Fixed seatings" (you list up to 12 set times, all inside the service hours).
- Optionally set overrides for this shift only: turn time, booking interval, max covers per slot, max concurrent covers, booking window, min lead time, max advance (days), and a card policy. Leave a field empty and the shift uses the venue default.
- Save the shift.
- Use "Edit shift" to change one, and "Deactivate" to stop the booking engine using it. Existing bookings are not affected by deactivating.
- The shift card policy choices are "No card", "Save card (charge on no-show)" and "Deposit upfront", with an optional deposit per guest and no-show charge per guest. See "Card holds and deposits".
Common problems
- The booking page says online booking is not open yet: the venue has no booking window and no shift. Add one of them.
- A time you expect is missing: check the day is ticked on the shift, the time is inside the service hours, and the Min lead time has not already passed for today.
- A date is closed even though your hours are normal: check Special dates for a closed entry on that date.
Note: These hours control what guests can book online. Bookings made by staff from the book are checked for table clashes and pacing instead, and staff can override those with a reason.
